Bosses Appreciation Post!!!

I cast my mind back today, and I count myself blessed to have had amazing female bosses all the way through. Bosses who were very patient and intentional about helping me figure things out cos truth be told, I was so lost.

Unknowing to three special women, they reversed the stereotype that women do not support other women to me.

I always say a woman alone has power; but collectively, we have impact. Traditionally, we have been taught to be competitive with one another because there was such a scarcity of jobs at the top. It’s so clear that that strategy and opinion is wrong and doesn’t work anymore. The truth is that raising each other up and channeling the power of collaboration is truly how we’ll change the equation.

Women need to learn from each other’s lessons and listen to voices of those who have gone before us. Yes, there are still a host of cultural and institutional hurdles that we as women must negotiate on our way to success, but when we have safe spaces, it provides us with the support, advice, and clarity we need to move forward. We'll meet people we can trust, who understand what we’re going through, and who genuinely want to help us succeed. Finding that safe space doesn’t need to be an uphill battle.

To my personal people,

Thank you, Tracy Ekiru
